Art
Research shows a significant correlation between student development in the arts and academic achievement. Art reinforces learning in other subjects. It also builds self discipline, providing students with the opportunity to think independently, persevere through difficulties and try new options.
At. St. Joseph/Marquette School, visual art is offered to grades one through eight. The program is developmental and sequential, building on what students have learned in previous grades and preparing them for the next grade. It covers all major areas of art: drawing, painting, sculpture, pottery, printmaking and collage,
Each grade level focuses on complete coverage of the elements and principles of design, including color, line, shape, form and texture. In addition students are given a through introduction to art history, media exploration and creative self expression.
Every year contains projects that each grade level can find interesting and challenging. The classroom environment allows students to think independently and feel free to experiment and express their own unique visions.
Art at St. Joe's is a fun and exciting way to learn. All are welcome to come and join in at any time.
