Drama
Why study the arts? The study of music and drama develops creativity, enhances cooperative learning, instills disciplined work habits, improves test scores, contributes to self-esteem, and is a lifelong enjoyable activity. Violin virtuoso Mark O’Connor says, “Music brings people together in communities and gives children a way to express themselves.”
In the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade music/drama class, students will be building on their prior knowledge; singing, playing instruments, composing, listening to music, reading music, dancing, public speaking, acting and expression.
We will begin the semester understanding our vocal ranges, sight singing and acting. Then we will begin a musical that will be presented at the end of the semester. Each student will have a role in the choir and in the musical to increase their music/drama skills.
I hope your child will enjoy music/drama and have fun! Please don’t hesitate to call or e-mail me with any questions and/or concerns.
Sincerely,
Miss. Ambria Brantner
