Squire Choir
Squire Choir is a “multi-grade” Choir, grades 3 –
8. Squire Choir rehearses every Tuesday after school. Students with an
interest in Choral and Solo singing and dancing, have an opportunity to
pursue these musical art forms.
Advisor: Kathy Kloster
A typical rehearsal starts with a healthy snack, warm-ups, rehearsing
songs, acting and dancing, and communication skills. Parents are very
involved with their child’s experience in Squire Choir.
Parents have opportunities to sew, build props, gather costumes, assist
in rehearsing (if they have experience in singing) and a multitude of
other areas.
Squire Choir is a one year commitment. Rehearsals are very concentrated
because of the performance-based aspect of working towards the upcoming
concerts. There are 4 evening seasonal concerts, 2 tours to retirement
homes, Grandparent’s Day, and 2 school assemblies.
Squire Choir members enjoy expressing their musical talent, love to
sing, act and dance and they sing out with spirit and love!
Aside from the music experience, the most important reasons students
sign up for Squire Choir are:
1. Interaction and creative expression
2. Friendship
3. Christian community
4. Respect amongst grade levels
5. Togetherness
6. FUN!
Student Ambassadors Grades 7 and 8
The Ambassador program is leadership/service organization sponsored
by the Sister Rebecca Berghoff Foundation. The prospective Ambassadors
must fill out an application listing as to why they would like to become
an Ambassador and they also must have their parents and a teacher signs
the application.
Advisor: Dianne St. Mary.
The Ambassadors meet during their lunch time and are trained to give school
tours, help with open house, assist with the Catholic school week coffee
hour and the bi-annual backward auction. They also may be a spokesperson
for the school. These students are the best recruiters and marketers a
school can have; they know what is happening and they share what its really
like to be a student at St. Joseph/Marquette Catholic School.
- They are excited to be a student at St. Joseph/Marquette
- They have spirit
- They enjoy meeting new people
- They enjoy participating in co-curricular activities
- They are responsible
- They are willing to try new things
Yearbook
Eighth grade students interested in being on the yearbook staff usually
meet one day a week after school for an hour to do everything necessary
to produce the school yearbook. They take pictures, design pages, paste
up pages, and write copy. They also make decisions regarding theme, contents,
and cover choices. If you are creative, we need you!
