Parent Board Fundraising

Fundraisers

The following brief explanations and descriptions of the fundraisers planned for the upcoming year.

Furthermore, if you have an idea of a fundraiser, please call the President of the Parent Board so that you can present your idea at the next parent board meeting. All monies earned by the Parent Board from the fundraisers, goes directly to the general operating budget of St. Joseph/Marquette.

The SRB Foundation owns and operates the St. Joe’s Bingo Hall in Union Gap.
You may work your volunteer hours off at Bingo by calling Theresa Smith at 248-3112.

At this time, the hall is open Friday, Saturday, and Sundays from 9:00 AM until 11:30 PM.

To keep St. Joseph/Marquette Catholic school tuition as affordable as possible, the parent club raises funds through the following events:

Magazine Sale: September

Students ask family, friends, and neighbors to renew current subscriptions or subscribe to new magazines and periodicals. The magazine sale is scheduled to last about two weeks.

Raffle: September

Every year the Parent Board purchases a vehicle to raffle. This event starts in September with the first scheduled day to sell is opening day at the Central Washington Stare Fair and concludes with the drawing of the winning ticket at the Christmas Boutique, November 27.
Every child is issued 100 raffle tickets, with the Pre-K each receiving 50. You may sign up to sell at the Central Washington State Fair and other selected sites around Yakima and the Lower and Upper Valley. You may also select your own sites to sell your tickets. Posters are available to parents who would like them. Our projection for this fundraiser is tba.

Backward Auction: October

This auction takes place the off year of C.A.T.C.H. A different kind of auction; only 10 items are auctioned. You will enjoy dinner and adult beverages and a fun-filled, fast-paced delightful dinner auction. All proceeds from this auction are exclusively for St. Joseph/Marquette.

Poinsettia Sale: November

You may order poinsettia’s starting in mid-November or purchase them at the
Christmas Boutique. They come in 4” pots wrapped for the holidays, a must for every household.

Christmas Boutique: November

Vendors rent tables to sell their home crafted items on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Our school community is asked to bake homemade items for the Boutique bakery and maybe those who are talented in the craft business; they may like to make crafty items for our own craft booth. The Deli serves a lunch that consists of pasta salad, turkey croissant sandwich, soup and a beverage. Again, this year Poinsettia’s will be for sale. The car raffle drawing takes place at 4 PM.

Christmas Tree Lot: November

Christmas trees are for sale at the St. Joes Bingo parking lot.

Crab Feed: February

Come to the Selah Civic center and enjoy an evening of fun! Feast on crab, cole slaw, baked potato, garlic bread. Adult beverages along with sodas are served. Stay to dance and buy a change on the 50/50 raffle. Get your crab feed tickets early because they sell out fast.

Yard Sale: Fall-Nov & Spring-March

This fundraiser provides St. Joseph/Marquette’s families and friends the opportunity to clean out closets, the garage, cupboards, and drawers, get rid of the old furniture, the used appliances, and any other old treasurers and donates them to school.

Jog-a-thon

February students go to their neighbors and friends and collect pledges for jogging around Zephel track located at Eisenhower high school. This is a wholesome and healthy way to raise funds.

C.A.T.C.H. Fall 2005

C.A.T.C.H. stands for Community Action Towards Christian Heritage. In the past, this has been a black-tie oral auction that benefits the three Catholic schools in Yakima. All three schools work on this event and share in the proceeds equally. It should be noted that C.A.T.C.H. is governed by a separate board and is a 501(c) (3) non- for profit corporation. This is not a CATCH year, but planning for the 2005 C.A.T.C.H. will be underway soon.
