for
Boys and Girls

2004 - 2005

Pre-K thru 5

Message to parents: The descriptions contained within the dress code have been written to inform students and parents of items and styles that are acceptable to wear while attending St. Joseph/Marquette Catholic School. If an item or style is not listed within the dress code it must not be worn to school. Students are encouraged to bring an item of question to the administration for approval before it is worn.

It is the policy of St. Joseph/Marquette that the students attending grades Pre-K through 5th grade will wear uniforms, with the exception of Free Dress days or other announced days. Please refer to the following information regarding the uniform.

Girls

Plaid Jumper with:
A white blouse with a collar and buttons
A white polo with a collar and buttons
A white turtle neck with a fold over collar
The shirts may have short or long sleeves.
(shorts must be worn under the jumper)

Pants:
Navy blue cotton twill or corduroy

Shorts/Skorts:
Navy Blue cotton twill walking shorts

Socks:
Plain white or navy blue
Sweaters or sweatshirts:
Solid white or navy blue in color
Button down the front or pull over
White blouse, polo or turtleneck will be worn underneath, this shirt will be tucked in and the collar worn out
School logo’s only

Shoes:
Tennis or oxford shoes with rubber soles
Shoelaces or Velcro
No slip on shoes, open toed shoes or sandals
½ in heel maximum

Makeup:
No makeup is allowed for Pre-K to 5th grade students
Clear nail polish

Jewelry:
Small post earrings in ears only
No loops or dangling types allowed

Hair:
Conservative and neat
Bangs above the eyebrows
Student’s unaltered natural color
Fad haircuts or styles are not allowed
No streaking, bleaching or dyes

Boys

Shirts:
A white button down dress shirt with buttons
A white polo with a collar and buttons
A white turtle neck with a fold over collar
Long or short sleeves
Shirts with tails must be tucked in

Pants:
Navy blue cotton twill or corduroy

Shorts:
Navy Blue cotton twill walking shorts

Socks:
Plain white or navy blue

Sweaters or sweatshirts:
Solid white or navy blue in color
Button down the front or pull over
White dress shirt, polo or turtleneck will be worn underneath, this shirt will be tucked in and the collar worn out
School logo’s only

Shoes:
Tennis, oxford or slip on shoes with rubber soles
(Slip on shoes must cover the whole foot like tennis shoes)
Shoes must tie, strap, zip or Velcro on
Shoes must be worn properly
No open toed shoes or sandals
½ in heel maximum

Jewelry:
Boys are not allowed to wear earrings

Hair:
Conservative and neat
Bangs above the eyebrows
Off the collar
Student’s unaltered natural color
Fad haircuts or styles are not allowed
No streaking, bleaching or dyes

Free Dress Days

Free dress day occurs on the 1st Monday of each month. Students may wear clothing other than uniform Jeans that are correct size for student without holes, patches or frays. T-shirts, sweatshirts or sweaters any color and correct size with appropriate logos, writing, pictures, etc. Skirt or dress hems must be within 2” of the knee.

Bib overalls, tank tops, athletic type shorts and sweat pants (including mesh, nylon, cotton, or spandex) are unacceptable.
