Religious Activities
Where faith becomes part of everyday school life.
Faith is part of the school year at St. Joseph Marquette. From weekly Mass to sacramental preparation, service, and retreats, students live their faith together as a community.
Mass
The school holds Mass every Friday in St. Joseph Church, starting at 8:30 a.m.
Rosaries
Students and teachers come together to pray the rosary once a month in the gymnasium.
Prayer services
Special prayer services are held during Advent and Lent.
Reconciliation
Reconciliation services are held for third through eighth grade prior to Christmas and Easter. Second grade students have their first reconciliation service prior to their First Communion.
First Communion
Second grade students spend the year preparing for the sacrament of First Communion.
Peace Partner Program
One of the delights for students from Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade is having a yearlong friend called a Peace Partner. A special bond develops between the older and younger student. They share special times together: sitting together in liturgies, special lunches, fun activities, working together on religious education projects, and celebrations. On special days, they exchange gifts or plan surprises for each other.
Blessing of Throats
On the Feast of Saint Blaise, our eighth graders help bless students and staff against any ailment of the throat and body.
Blessing of Pets
In celebration of the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi, families can bring their pets (dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, hedgehogs, even horses) to campus to receive a blessing from our parish priest.
Retreats
- Second grade, prior to First Communion.
- Middle school, at the beginning of the year.
- Eighth grade, in spring prior to graduation.
